Northern Force Team 172
agreed to adopt a philosophy about work that includes communication,
cooperation, and dedication. When we bring those qualities to our
workplace, everything works. It works for us, it works for others, and
what we produce works. Our team is from Gorham High School and Falmouth
High School, and includes students, teachers, parents and professional
mentors from local industries. |
About
Northern Force Team 172
Robotics
and automation are a major part of life. Nearly everything that is made
uses some kind of automation or computer remote control. People used to
be afraid that robots would take away jobs, but the truth is that someone
has to think up robots, someone has to design them, someone has to build
them, and someone has to operate them.
Right
here in Maine, high school students are thinking up robots, designing them,
building them, and operating them. And each year, a new team of students
has an opportunity to put their skills to work along side the nation's
finest engineers.
Northern
Force Team 172, is made up of technology students from Gorham High
School and Falmouth High School. This team makeup has
competed each year since 2003, though our team's rookie year was actually 1996. This year the competition is
February 28, 29 and March 1, 2008 in the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH. Admission is free, and we're counting on having lots of people
there to cheer us on.
We are once again gathering resources from our community, our student and parent members, and
our sponsors to help us build our robot and
compete in the regional competition. The team wishes to thank everyone who is
involved in any way, especially our leading corporate sponsors,
IDEXX
Laboratories and Lanco Assembly Systems.
